Metro Engineering & Surveying Co, Inc is a corporation, incorporated in the state of Georgia and was established in September 1967. We are a full service provider of Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing LIDAR located in McDonough, Georgia. Our staff includes Registered Land Surveyors in Georgia, and Alabama, Professional Engineer, Mapping Scientist, Photogrammetrist, CAD Technicians and support personnel.
Metro has served the development community with surveying and site engineering applications since its inception. Many of our projects have included boundary and topographic surveys, civil site design, construction layout (of site and structures) and as-built surveys. Our services include establishing construction site control, quality control of subcontractor layout for the general contactors and certified as-builts of all construction phases.
Michael H. Elliott, Jr., PE - President Mr. Elliott has 22 years of experience in civil engineering design. Mr. Elliott is a 1994 graduate of The Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering. Mr. Elliott is a licensed professional engineer in the states of Georgia & Alabama. His civil engineering background includes roadway design, commercial site design, and the design and permitting of residential subdivision development projects. He also has experience in stormwater management design as well as floodplain modeling and hydrology studies. Mr. Elliott is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Society of American Military Engineers. Mr. Elliott’s main tasks include the management of the day to day operations of all aspects of the company.
John Salter, Vice President-Operations
Mr. Salter has 30 years of experience in all disciplines of land surveying, field control principals and practical photogrammetric applications. Mr. Salter has spent his entire career at MES, progressing his way up to his current position. He has built quality relationships with a wide variety of construction companies, Manhattan, Skanska and Turner Construction as well with some well respected real estate developers in downtown Atlanta. Mr. Salter’s experience includes preparation and supervision of ALTA/ACSM land title surveys, boundaries, route surveys for utility and highway construction, acquisition surveys and Geodetic Surveys. He is also a long time member of the Surveying and Mapping Society of Georgia.
Stacy Lunsford, CP Vice President – Photogrammetry
Mr. Lunsford has over 25 years experience in photogrammetric engineering with relational database principals as well as practical surveying applications and GPS solutions. He has solid practical and supervisory experience along with skills applicable of project management. His primary duties are supervision and quality assurance of all photogrammetry and mapping services including; flight design, GPS control, aerial triangulation, planimetric and DTM surface mapping, LiDAR Processing and Classification, scanning of imagery and orthophotography production. Mr. Lunsford also manages MES’s IT, software support and archiving. Mr. Lunsford is a member of the Surveying and Mapping Society of Georgia and the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.
James R. Green, RLS, Vice President-Surveying
Mr. Green has over 40 years of experience in land surveying and construction layout. Mr. Green attended Southern Polytechnic State University and Middle Georgia College. Mr. Green is a Registered Land Surveyor in the State of Georgia and Alabama. His Land Surveying background includes boundary surveying, topographic surveying, ALTA surveys, GPS and construction layout, extensive work on pipeline, roadway and transmission line projects. He is a member and past Board of Directors member of the Surveying and Mapping Society of Georgia. Mr. Green became employed at Metro Engineering & Surveying Co., Inc. in January, 2006.
Timothy Perez, Chief Pilot
Tim has over seventeen years flying as a career pilot, and has spent fifteen of those years as a mapping and survey pilot with Metro Engineering. He is licensed to fly multi-engine airplanes, single-engine airplanes, and helicopters. Tim is also an FAA certificated flight instructor in airplanes and helicopters. Tim is a retired U.S. Army Infantry officer, having served twenty-three years in the military, retiring as a Captain.
